A Day at Abbey Road Studios

The Young Musician & The Quarrymen

For December 63’s Nick Davies, it all started in Liverpool ~ November 16th 1993. The Beatles were synonymous with Liverpool and when you combine that with the fact that Nick’s parents are musicians themselves, it’s not difficult to see his path was drawn that day (taken from the lyrics of Young Musician).

Heavily influenced by The Beatles, Nick had the opportunity of a lifetime on December 16th, 2018 when he spent 12 hours in Studio 2 recording piano, keyboards and vocals for his new album, aptly entitled “Young Musician”. “Parallel Lines”, “Nonetheless” and “Nanu” were all recorded on the same piano as “Let It Be” by The Beatles and it seemed only right to record “Young Musician” on the same piano that Paul pounded out Golden Slumbers and Hey Jude. Add in additional parts on the “Lady Madonna” piano and the “Day In The Life” piano and you not only had some incredible sounding tracks but a day full of the stuff dreams are made of.

There were more than a few tears when Nick recorded the self-penned duet “Prize” with his father, Terry.

As the day drew to a close, and they left the building, Nick took a piece of indescribable magic with him – a piece of musical magic that will live with him forever

Interview with Nick Davies:
Interviewer: “So where do you get your inspiration for your lyrics?”
Nick: “Each song is different. Young Musician is written about my own musical journey so far. Nanu was written the day after Robin Williams died – the inspiration there is obvious”

“Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans.”
